You're not alone, most students doing course work online do it because their lifestyle sometimes prevents them from driving in traffic to sit in a classroom.
But it's common for students to feel overwhelmed when sitting at home in front of a computer with a lot of information to process.
My advice, approach it as a 3 step process:
1. Meeting the education requirements ( Allied’s SAFE Course)
2. Preparing for and passing the SAFE MLO Test,
3. Learn how to originate loans for your lender/broker.
1. Meeting the education requirements means passing Allied’s SAFE course. The course is fast paced and crunches a lot of information in a short period of time but if there’s something I learned in college it was that I don’t need to read an entire textbook to pass a class (and that I need to be nice to my instructors, since they grade my work). I’m not advocating for not reading and spending the time to learn the material, what I am saying is learn to pick what is important, learn the underlying lessons, focus on the objectives and the issues that will get you past this step, i.e., passing this course (quizzes, assignments, final etc.).
Your formula to pass this course is to focus on these 3 things:
A. Get maximum points on the discussion boards by posting 2 times.
B. Average a 70% overall on your quizzes and assignments
C. Pass the final exam with a 70%
Do this, and you're guaranteed to pass this step!
Keep in mind, that how well you do in this course is not a good indicator of how well you will do in Steps 2 and 3, each step is different and requires a different approach; if you aced this course, great, if you barely passed, great - on to the next step!
2. Preparing for and passing the SAFE MLO Test requires a different approach (Test Registration Information) .
a. First you should be familiar with all of the content that you will be tested on, i.e., have a clue of what each item is. Here is a list of the content you will be tested on: click here
b. Take a prep / crash course that specifically focuses on helping you pass the SAFE MLO Test , do your research online, read reviews.
c. Review multiple choice test taking strategies. Even if you don’t have a clue on how to answer a question, employing the right strategy may yield the right answer and one question can make the difference (trust me). Multiple choice test taking strategies here.

3. Learn how to originate loans for your lender/broker, which means that you’ll likely come to the realization that a lot of what you learned in steps 1 and 2, is not that relevant to what you’ll actually be doing. Origination software will take care of your forms, your company or broker will train you on how they want you to do things specifically to suit their process, and there is a lot of free training out there on any subject or area that you may need help on.
Overall, take each step, each assignment, each quiz, as a single milestone towards your journey into this exciting new career because after all, the way to eat an elephant, is one bite at a time.
